Sasha's Website

Online gallery of works by Sasha Mihajlovic, contemporary artist and illustrator
Welcome to the surreal, monochrome world of Sasha's vision. The images shown on this website represent a selection of works completed by the artist over the last nine years. Each creative phase is represented by a page on the website, listed to the right of this introduction.

This is what Sasha has to say about his art:

"I see the drawings as a fusion of my art sensibilities and everyday experience. This art is the expressionist opposite to what I do as an architectural illustrator. The predominant technique in my artwork is the black and white graphite, which I find to be simple but ingenuous media. It allows for a dose of ambiguity on a chromatic level, which as a result challenges the conditioned response in a viewer.

I feel that life, in its basic value - and the way that most of us experience it - is actually a lot of shades of gray. Not boring but simply variations on a theme of two opposing entities: beginning and the end, high and low, two persons, each side of one person, yin and yang, black and white ... That is where - on a fundamental level - my art comes from."

At the end let us mention that Sasha Mihajlovic studied architecture at the University of Belgrade, former Yugoslavia. In 1988 he moved the United Kingdom and has since lived there and occasionally in Spain. He makes his living mostly as an architectural illustrator / perspective artist. It was in Spain, in 2001 that Sasha started developing his monochrome art. In 2002 some of the output was first shown at the local exhibitions.
